Playing Affairs

All Sub Unions in the KZN Inland region run their own respective local leagues. The Midlands Cricket Union plays a 45 over competition in their local league. From this competition they select a composite team that represents Midlands in the KZNICU premier league. The Northern Natal Cricket Union incorporates all formats of the one day game. They play 50 over, 45 over as well as T20.

East Griqualand and Sisonke play a 50 over competition against each other and play 60 over cricket in their own respective leagues. Northern Districts Cricket Union incorporate all formats of the one day game into there leagues they play T20, 40 over as well as a local 25 over night league in Newcastle. Teams from the Northern Natal areas are then broken down into their respective regions which then compete in the KZNICU Northern Natal Premier league.

From the Northern Natal area the KZN Inland Cricket Union are able to identify potential junior as well as senior players. Some of these players have included:

Particular attention is paid to efforts to develop and promote cricket in the region’s outlying areas. To this end, the KZNICU takes pride in the achievement of the following players:

Yusuf Abdullah:

Hailing from the Dundee region, Yusuf has represented KZN Inland, the Sunfoil Dolphins, South Africa as well as the Kings XI Punjab at IPL level.

Sandile Hlatswayo

Sandile comes from the Newcastle area and is one of KZNICU’s brightest prospects. He has represented the KZN Inland senior team and is an integral part of the squad.

Suhail Razack

Suhail is from Ladysmith and has represented the KZN Inland Cricket Union at junior level, and on being selected for the KZN Inland senior team, scored 55 on debut.
