CSA congratulates Inland on 50-over triumph

Cricket South Africa (CSA) has congratulated KwaZulu-Natal Inland on winning the CSA One-Day Challenge.

After a tense last day of the season, KZN Inland, Gauteng and Free State all finished level on 22 points with the same number of wins. The final criteria applied in deciding the log positions was as follows in terms of clause 21.8 of the conditions of play:
* KZN Inland finished ahead of Gauteng by virtue of winning the match between them

* Free State finish third by virtue of having fewer bonus points than KZN Inland and Gauteng

* The tie between the top three teams cannot be separated by the ‘Most wins against team(s) in a tie’ clause as Free State did not play Gauteng

CSA Chief Executive Haroon Lorgat congratulated KZN Inland on their success. “This has been a highly competitive event with only four points separating the top seven teams on the log. KZN Inland are to be congratulated on their achievement of topping the log by a whisker. “There is clearly a high level of competitive cricket at the semi-professional level and it is being borne out by many players who are being promoted to their respective franchises.”
