The dedication and hard work to popularise cricket in Pietermaritzburg’s historically disadvantaged areas by Minenhle Magubane was recognised when he received the KFC Coach of the Month award for October.
The programme is run by the KZN Inland Cricket Union under the auspices of Cricket SA as part of its mandate to expand the game. While Magubane focuses on developing cricket in Imbali, he also works with other communities, according to Mercia Baatjies, the KZNICU KFC mini-cricket co-ordinator.
“It was easy to nominate Minenhle as he is such a dedicated and committed coach,” said Baatjies, adding Magubane will now advance to the national final to determine the country’s top mini-cricket coach.
