Flying the Inland flag proudly

The 65 schools players receiving their provincial colours at The Oval on Sunday could be forgiven thinking they were stars. Having received their caps during the lunch break of the one-day match between Inland and Griquas, the players flying the flag for the five KZN Inland teams at the various age-group tournaments next month were then shepherded to an area off the field for the official team photographs.
Once the professional photographers had done their thing, it was the turn of parents, friends and family to snap away at players and accompanying officials.
The pride of the players and parents was palpable and portends well for their prospects at the various tournaments – under-13 in Bloemfontein, under-15 in Johannesburg, under-17 in Paarl, boys under-19 in Durban and girls under-19 in Cape Town.
Expectations are high for the teams to do well to underscore the traditional strength of cricket in Pietermaritzburg and the midlands. “We believe we have chosen the strongest teams possible and look forward to some scintillating performances,” said KZINCU youth manager Siboneleo Ngcobo.
Watch out for the team pictures that will be loaded soon.
