The resurgent KwaZulu-Natal Inland Cricket Union (KZNICU) continues to win over business support for its endeavours to promote the game in Pietermariritzburg and the province’s interior. Keen to establish working partnerships with the private sector, the KZNICU recently teamed up with Sportsman Warehouse to bestow a “Man of the Match” award at all KZN Inland’s one-day matches played at The Oval. The accolade will take the form of a ZAR500 voucher to be redeemed at Sportsman Warehouse’s city branch at Cascades Shopping Centre. KZNICU president Yunus Bhamjee said the “Man of the Match” award achieves several objectives in furtherance of the union’s mandate. “It establishes a partnership with Sportsman Warehouse, it rewards cricketing excellence, and it adds lustre to Inland’s one-day matches at The Oval,” he said. Sportsman Warehouse branch manager Chris Gerber said he was excited at deepening an obvious synergy with the home of cricket in the KZN interior. “As a leading supplier of sporting equipment, it makes absolute sense to align ourselves with the KZNICU, and we’re proud and excited to deepen our involvement with this important constituency,” he said. The first “Man of the Match” award was  handed out at the end of the 1-day match between Inland and provincial rivals. KZN Coastals, on Sunday, December 2. See separate item
